Quality Care for Seniors Starts with Training

Back

Victoria, BC - September 12, 2009 - Imagine reaching an age in which quality health care services and long-term care facilities become critical for your well-being. As British Columbia's aging baby boomer population grows, demands for educated and experienced health care workers will increase exponentially. This is good news for anyone considering a career in health care, such as a Health Care Assistant.

"As we watch the population of seniors grow, we can see the demand for exceptional health care services in communities across the country," says Bohdan Bilan, Vice-President of UCW Academy of Health. "Students choosing to study and work in the health care field will find multiple opportunities to advance their careers."

UCW Academy of Health offers a Health Care Assistant program that trains students to specifically assist the elderly and special needs patients. The curriculum understands that the key to providing the health care industry with quality employees is a dual-based learning environment; both classroom learning and practical, hands-on training are necessary for students to gain real-world experience while under the supervision of professional instructors. Graduates of the diploma program will find employment as extended caregivers, long-term aides, and home health care workers.

"Our HCA graduates will strongly support the demands of the changing Canadian health care system," adds Dr. Bilan. "They are driven, dedicated, and passionate about the health care industry, their careers, and most importantly about providing assistance to people who need extended support."

UCW Academy of Health is now accepting applications for fall enrollments, including the Health Care Assistant program in Victoria. For more information, visit http://health.ucan.ca/Diploma_Programs
